Lodges and Orders in Bendigo

Craft Lodges meeting in Bendigo
The Craft Lodge is the basis of all Freemasonry.  Initiation into a Craft Lodge is the first step that every Freemason must take to begin his Masonic journey.  There are 3 degrees through which the initiate works in progression, becoming (in turn) an Entered Apprentice, a Fellowcraft and then a Master Mason.
Each of these lodges is an independent entity (though inter-visiting is common and encouraged!); they meet on different days of the week, mainly in the evening (except for Daylight) and mainly at the Bendigo Masonic Centre (except for Eaglehawk).

These other orders derive, in most part, from various aspects of the ceremonies and history of the 3 degrees of Craft Masonry.  All require prospective members to be Craft Freemasons as a minimum - several have further requirements as well.
