The pages on this site are only meant to be a brief introduction to a few Internet searching techniques that could be useful.  Experience is, by far, the best teacher but, in the meantime, if you want to go into more detail you might be interested in working through these step-by-step lessons created by reputable teachers and organizations.

Webteacher has an easily navigated set of lessons that you can take at your own pace. 

The University of Sydney has an online Introduction to the Internet course, as does the University at Albany (SUNY) and UC Berkeley

The search engines themselves each have Help pages that give you advice on the quirks of their way of searching.
