Freemasonry in Bendigo

Freemasonry has been a feature of community life in Bendigo since the formation of the Golden Lodge in 1854.  Its  lodges have provided places for great local figures, like Sir John Quick, WC Vahland and George Lansell, as well as humble everyday brethren to meet on the level.

Its precepts of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth have guided thousands of Bendigonians over the years and, these days, are enacted through each lodge's individual charity programs, and features such as the Bendigo Masonic Scholarship Fund and the George Wesley Trust Scholarships which provides financial assistance to Primary, Secondary and University students regardless of any Masonic connection of the recipients.

Similar fund-raising (as well as plenty of social opportunities) is a major part of the activity of the Victorian Masonic Motorcycle Association which has strong links to Bendigo through several of its founders and major members.
